Terraria 1.2: Oh yeah, outside still exists

Woops.  I forgot real life exits, fucking Terraria, why are you my crack.

Terraria just got a massive update.  Seriously massive.  Re-Logic, terraria's developer, decided, seemingly on a whim to basically double terraria.  So of course, since I loved the hell out of terraria and so did my girlfriend, that this massive update warranted starting completely over and the predictable happened, we got lost again.

Terraria is such an enjoyable game it's tough to keep track of time.  I've never played a sandox game were it just felt so organic.  We spent hours and hours doing stuff and never once did we get to the point of, "Well, what the hell do we do now?"  It all just flows.

We just kind of... built this
But all of this you've heard before.  I rained my accolades all over terraria in one of my first posts.  Now I'm going to rain them down on the devs.  I would have paid $15+ for this update as a DLC, plain and simple.  The sheer amount of content that was added makes it a new game.  My girlfriend was not sold on making new characters at all.  15 minutes in, that debate was over.  We found a new biome, new enemies, new everything.  It's not even the same game really, it's new, for free.  I would call it the best DLC of all time, but it's not, it was a free update.  Move over Bethesda, Re-Logic is here.

I'm not completely sure how to express how happy I am with the devs.  Not only did they double their game for free, they responded, in real time, to the fans.  If you play this game and you're not on reddit, then you haven't seen that the devs are very active in that community.  They respond to complaints of average people.  For example, there was a bug in one of the fixes, 1.2.0.3, there was an issue with inventory rollback.  The issue was resolved with a hotfix 2 hours later because the bug was brought up in a reddit thread.  I have never seen that level of involvement by anyone.  Community input is driving future updates, it's incredible.

Buy this game, now.  It has 4 times the play time of any other game in my steam library and it's going up.  We're done with the game and we're still playing, there's still stuff to do.  The bosses are dead, the biome keys are acquired and I just logged off our server 15 minutes ago because I was working on things.  It's probably the best game I've ever played.  Find a friend, buy two copies and play together and 120+ hours later you'll wonder how it could just flow so well.

Now I'm going to post a ton of screenshots because I love everything about Terraria.
